Dispelling Fox News' and Tucker Carlson's False Narratives Around January 6th
The Lies they Tell, Uncovered
Over the past two years, Fox News and Tucker Carlson have been attempting to distort the TRUTH surrounding the attack on the Capitol building on January 6th. These misleading narratives have gained momentum in recent days, following McCarthy's release of thousands of hours of security footage to Fox News. I want to take this opportunity to debunk some of these fallacies in a way that is easily understood by the average American.
Many January 6th Convicts were Proven Innocent in Videos
Regardless of the behavior of those who unlawfully entered the Capitol, simply breaching the building was an illegal act. Breaking through police barriers to access the building was also a criminal offense, as was making threats, whether inside or outside the building, toward the Vice President or Congress.
Ray Epps was an FBI Operative who Orchestrated the Insurrection
Despite being one of the multitude of discontented supporters of former President Donald Trump who were present at the Capitol on January 6th, there is currently no proof to suggest that Ray Epps played a significant part in the riot or was collaborating with law enforcement. According to the Jan. 6 committee, Epps disclaimed any association with law enforcement during his testimony, and there has been no convincing evidence presented to link him to federal agents.
As per public records, Epps is a 60-year-old business owner from Arizona, who may have had previous links to the Oath Keepers militia group. However, an old YouTube video featuring a man resembling Epps listed as the "Oath Keepers Arizona Chapter President" is the only concrete evidence of this alleged association. While the FBI had earlier included Epps on a "wanted" list seeking information about those involved in the Capitol violence, they later removed his reference in July. This may be due to various reasons, including the possibility that the FBI no longer required assistance in locating him or had already interviewed him.
Pelosi is at Fault for the Insurrection
Nancy Pelosi had no authority over the Capitol Police, as they are managed by the Capitol Police Board. This committee is composed of the House and Senate sergeants-at-arms, as well as the Capitol architect.
