Edited Krassenstein Video Claims We're Paid to Tweet & "Sow Division"
Parody Video cut short to make it appear we are paid chaos agents
Over the past four years, when confronted with our fact-checks of Donald Trump's falsehoods and misconduct, Republicans have repeatedly disseminated a video that appears to show me, Brian Krassenstein, admitting to receiving compensation from "higher-ups" to "sow division." These posts attract trolls like ants to a candy cane, who either genuinely believe or feign to have uncovered a nefarious plot involving our supposed payments to sow discord.
However, in 2018, as part of the promotion of our parody book "How the People Trumped Ronald Plump," we produced a series of short sketches mocking the silly claims by Trump supporters about why we tweet so much. Although we never publicly published the video, an edited version of it was leaked on 4chan before Alex Jones and Infowars, along with TruePundit seized on it, alleging that they had uncovered our plan to fracture the nation.
The problem is that they either failed to grasp or pretended not to recognize that this was only a segment of the real parody video we created. The authentic video features me unequivocally declaring that I was joking, and that our motive for tweeting was to "get the truth out there". The entire video is available below, clearly demonstrating that neither of us receives any compensation for our social media presence:
Furthermore, this video was not filmed in a bar; instead, it was recorded in my home, with my twin brother Ed Krassenstein conducting the interview, disguising his voice (which we thought would be obvious). I have included a few pictures of the room in my home to prove that the video was filmed at my house:
Therefore, whenever you come across this video, please do us a favor and share this article with those who posted it. Inform them that their actions spread misinformation and lead to the intellectual deterioration of the public. Finally, for the record, let it be known that no one has ever compensated us in any way for our political tweets or interactions with the former president.
