Elon Musk Told Me George Soros "Hates Humanity"

I woke up this morning to an inundation of hateful antisemitic direct messages in my Twitter inbox. Although I genuinely felt that some changes made by Musk had actually helped alleviate the hate-explosion on Twitter as of late, nothing could stop what I had coming after I replied to Musk in support of billionaire philanthropist and investor George Soros.

It all started when Musk made a short tweet comparing Soros to the Marvel character from X-men Magneto. "Soros reminds me of Magneto," Musk tweeted at 10:02 Pm ET last night.

In my response, I mentioned that Magneto’s character was a Holocaust survivor, and highlighted how his experiences shaped his perspective and empathy. I also noted that Soros often faces relentless attacks despite his good intentions, which some Americans perceive as bad due to political differences. Immediately, other Twitter users began hurling antisemitic slurs at me and accusing me of being paid by Soros. The flood of hate escalated when Musk swiftly responded, stating that Soros's intentions are not good and claiming that Soros hates humanity.

So, what triggered this exchange? Is Musk antisemitic? Is he a conspiracy theorist or simply venting frustrations at those who may have criticized him in the past?

Let's first examine the past connections between Soros and Musk. Last May, a coalition of 26 organizations expressed their concerns about Musk's potential acquisition of Twitter. Their joint letter raised alarm about the potential impact on the information ecosystem and public safety, particularly among marginalized communities. The signatories called for advertisers to hold Musk accountable and urged them to withdraw their advertising spending from Twitter if certain community trust and safety standards were not met.

In response, Musk took to Twitter, expressing his curiosity about the financial backers of these organizations. Notably, one of the groups had ties to George Soros's Open Society Foundations. A Twitter user pointed out this connection, prompting Musk to express his intention to seek clarification from Soros. However, it remains unclear whether any communication between them took place.

Interestingly, during the same period, Soros Fund Management acquired a significant amount of Tesla stock, continuing to do so until the fourth quarter of 2022. This suggests that despite Musk's pursuit of acquiring Twitter and their apparent differences, Soros still considered Tesla a sound investment.

In March 2023, Soros Fund Management surprisingly liquidated all its Tesla shares. The complex interplay between these prominent figures and their shifting interactions provides insight into the intricate dynamics of high-profile business dealings and personal exchanges, leaving room for speculation about underlying motivations and sentiments.

While hesitant to label Musk as an antisemite due to the absence of a history of antisemitism, it is worth noting that his tweet could be interpreted as invoking an antisemitic trope. It is more likely, however, that Musk took offense at Soros's actions and responded in the best way he saw fit. Musk has also been known to engage in what many consider conspiracy theories, including those surrounding Covid and the federal government. These actions have sparked discussions and generated heated rhetoric, ultimately driving up engagement levels on Twitter.

In conclusion, I personally aim to continue engaging with Musk, pushing back against what I perceive as false narratives and theories. Not everyone, particularly within the Jewish community, may agree with my approach, but I believe that meaningful dialogue can achieve more than avoiding confrontation.
