As details continue to leak about Tucker Carlson's removal from Fox News, the news network is already reeling.
The recent $787.5 million Dominion settlement by Fox News and the termination of Tucker Carlson may just be the beginning of the avalanche of repercussions faced by the right-wing news organization, as per new revelations by former Fox News producer Abby Grossberg. Grossberg and her attorney told MSNBC's Ari Melber last night that she has 90 recordings she made while working at the news network, and that Special Counsel Jack Smith is investigating Fox News for evidence related to the January 6th riots.
If some of the claims and tumors are true about Carlson's behavior behind the scene, his own career could certainly be hindered. My guess is that there will be much more to this story.
Last night Grossberg made startling claims that she was instructed by Fox News bosses to spy on Maria Bartiromo and report back on her activities. Grossberg also accused Tucker Carlson of threatening Republicans, stating that "Tucker and his executive producer... really were responsible for breaking me and making my life a living hell."
Tucker Carlson's departure from Fox News seems to be benefiting smaller news networks and potentially even Joe Biden. Last week, Newsmax's "Eric Bolling The Balance" had 132,000 viewers in the 8 PM slot, but this week, after Carlson's departure from Fox News, the same show had 531,000 viewers, marking an impressive 402% rise in just a week. This trend may cause Fox News to feel uneasy, especially if Carlson ends up moving to another network.
Moreover, this development could have political implications, with the GOP likely to suffer from infighting and message disorganization, while Biden may benefit from the confusion. Carlson's confrontational style of messaging was especially appealing to young Republicans and may have influenced their voting decisions in previous elections.
I always rather thought the MAGA movement and it’s various tentacles would implode internally before we could begin to override them or take them apart. This convinces me of that even more. I’m hopeful.
