The US Department of Justice just announced multiple major arrests and charges.
Complaint #1
The United States Department of Justice just announced arrests in a National Security matter. Deputy Assistant Attorney General for National Security, David Newman just announced 3 criminal complaints, including:
2 Complaints that charge 30 officers with China’s National Security Force (NPS) and multiple NY residents as well. The NPS has violated our sovereignty including opening a police station in NY City, according to the DOJ. Two arrests have been made: Lu Jianwang, 61, and Chen Jinping, 59.
In an indication of the intensifying global conflict over China's extraterritorial policing of its diaspora, F.B.I. counterintelligence agents conducted a search of the outpost's unremarkable offices on the third floor of a building at 107 East Broadway last fall. The move suggests a growing concern over China's tactics and their impact on individuals living outside of the country's borders.
These individuals were allegedly acting as agents of a foreign government and the secret police station was used to direct US citizens to locate a US residents on US soil. Two individuals were arrested for working together to establish a NPS (Chinese National Police) police station in NYC.
The two men have also been charged with obstruction of justice and accused of destroying evidence while conspiring to act as agents of the People’s Republic of China. These allegations raise serious concerns about the extent of Chinese espionage and highlight the need for strong action to protect American interests.
Complaint #2
A second complaint by the DOJ included 34 officers belonging to the ‘912 Special Project Working Group’ of the National Police Service who have been accused of committing crimes against Chinese dissidents located outside China, including in New York City. The task force, which allegedly operates as an internet troll farm, is said to target individuals deemed to be a threat to the Chinese Communist Party, and also disparaged dissidents across the globe. These disturbing revelations have raised concerns about the extent to which the Chinese government is willing to go to silence opposition and suppress dissents.
The DOJ alleges that this group also sought to spread misinformation about COVID as well as divide Americans during elections and stifle free speech in our country.
