The left has garnered a reputation for standing up for justice. When minority groups are under attack, and future generations are threatened, left-leaning politicians take action to at least address the issue. This is why I'm a bit angry this morning reading attacks on Mitch McConnell after he fell at a Waldorf Astoria dinner last evening, before being hospitalized.
While Twitter was ablaze this morning with posts about the 81-year-old Senate Minority Leader, I found that many of these tweets were quite disgusting, from both the right and the left.
Yes, I disagree with almost every policy that McConnell has stood for. Yes, I think he's a slimy politician, who sticks up for corporations over the everyday American. Yes, I think that what he has done to help overturn Roe Vs. Wade, is horrendous. No, I absolutely don't believe this 81-year-old man deserves to fall down and injure himself, or even worse, pass away.
Yes, we are better than those pushing racist policies, spreading misinformation, hate and bigotry. We are better than those wishing for the death of politicians merely because of disagreements. Be better than that, but know how to fight back with policy and FACTS.
I hate the fact that Mitch McConnell has been in the Senate for 38 years. I hate that he singlehandedly reshaped the Supreme Court against the will of the American people, but I will NEVER cheer on his injury or death and neither should you.
