The first duty of democrats is to clean their own house. Then, I decided that the Dem leadership did not give a damn what anyone had to say if they could count on their vote. Thus, I followed my own advice and re-registered as non-aligned, no party, non-affiliated -- the names vary from state to state. While my lone act only makes my words consistent with my publications, one or two defections into the Center will have no impact. But, at least I've repositioned myself so that my words and actions are congruent.

In a polarized society, the extremes control the debate. Polarization is based on emotionalism since rational people avoid polarization. Both the Dems and the GOP cater to the extreme element calling it their base. If enough people abandoned both the Dem and the GOP for the Center, then the parties would know that they cannot count on our votes any more. Since 85% of Americans are more Center than extreme, when enough people quit both the Dem and the GOP, both parties will cease catering to the 5% to 15% who are their extreme element.

A society cannot be governed from the extreme except by force which was the "truth" behind Jan 6. The Dem Identity Politics and Wokeism cannot govern from the Center as the leadership is extremist and reaction to Wokeism creates more power in the extreme right among GOP. Only a government composed of the Center can govern by consent without violence. As long as we have the Dems' racist anti-White and anti-Semitic Wokers, we will have the GOP Alt Right and increasing violence.
