Teixeira, a 21-year-old air national guardsman, was identified as the leading figure in an online gaming chat group called ‘Thug Shaker Central’, where he often shared racist memes and discussed guns and video games. He worked in a secure facility that prohibited mobile phones and other electronic devices, yet he was able to remove and photograph classified documents, apparently with the intent to impress his young friends.
