Normally I favor all Freedom of Speech but constant dangerous hypnotic repetitive lies and conspiracy theories are threatening Democracy and all that entails and endangering lies.

If FOX knew they were lying, which published text messages indicate then, they are engaging in purposeful malicious rhetoric

It’s the goal of Putin to bring down our country down, without firing a shot and Russian TV lauds Tucker Carlson FOX - who admits lying - as a friend of Russia

Britain banished Fox and so should we

Our precious military deserve Truth

I think a big fat visible disclaimer before each prime time show and The Five saying that ‘Fox News is licensed by the FCC as entertainment (they are, in fact) and should not be taken at face value’ would be sufficient if the FCC required they do it. But they won’t, because the FCC as we knew it in the ‘7 Dirty Words’ days barely exists anymore. But there really should be SOME kind of fallout on Faux News and the hosts for deliberately misleading viewers in a news broadcast.

Absolutely not. As you pointed out, Fox News is not a news station and frequently broadcasts fake news. Let’s be honest: it’s the Kremlin’s propaganda machine in the U.S.

I agree, have said so for years. When false propaganda is repeated, it becomes a true perspective. Our military and law enforcement have already displayed how that perspective has undermined our democracy and threatens the lives of our minority citizens! FNC has been the primary source of fascist propaganda, has admitted it is not based on news but opinion. Therefore, it should not be the primary source of information spread to our military forces.

I’ve been traveling and working overseas now for almost 15 years. Most places I’ve visited have Fox News as not available. The real news that Fox broadcasts isn’t enough to offset the lies and misinformation it spreads on a daily basis. People wonder why we’re in the mess we are in, and it’s because of Fox News, Breitbart, Infowar, and others that care more about bilking the gullible masses out of their hard earned money, than reporting the real news. It keeps the massively rich, rich, and derails any opportunity to make things better for everyone by claiming it will destroy America, with repeated buzz words like (Socialism, Communism, Woke Agenda) who get repeated by their loyal viewers ad nauseam. Anyone with a brain can see that agencies like Fox News and the others are the ones doing that.

Having served in the Air Force for 28 years between 1972 and 2000, I do not think banning a news outlet is proper. During my time, race relations was the big issue in early 1970s and we had a lot of instruction in race relations but I’m not aware of any bans in place.

I think that a more appropriate action is to inform and instruct the troops that news outlets operate for money and have their own narratives to push. Most individuals are intelligent enough to know this.

Finally even though I flew B-52s and cleared in nuclear programs, I still subscribed to Soviet periodicals and news--I did have to report such contacts to Air Force counterintelligence. Here’s a war story on how I almost got harpooned bu Greenpeace I’ve one such incident... https://nationalsecurityandstrategy.blogspot.com/2014/01/how-i-almost-got-harpooned-by-greenpeace.html?m=1

That’s my take.

Yes, they should be banned as they have no useful "NEWS" value.

Absolutely not. All media channels should be available for troops. This is insane.

Ban! Would you have let Tokyo Rose have access to those who protect and serve the citizenry? Same thing! Don’t be fooled by the fact that they are American, the agenda of disinformation is just as DANGEROUS.

As long as military bases allow full and free choice of all common/various news programs and entertainment shows - including CNN, NBC, CBS, etc.- then Fox News should be allowed as well. Fox may well have turned into a far right propaganda machine full of lies, but people still have the right to watch it if they choose.

Military bases certainly have the option to inform soldiers that such a program should be regarded as or is technically seen as entertainment, and can notify all personnel that they should use their best judgment when understanding and interpreting "news" and the analysis of said news from any program. Or, if they don't feel like taking a stance (and I'm assuming they probably would not), they don't have to say anything at all- just make a wide variety of news programs available to all of their personnel.

I don't like censoring what people watch, no matter how bad the subject material may be. That starts us down a slippery slope of canceling what we dislike. I could absolutely see a scenario where Republicans ban CNN or liberal publications because they don't like what is said and shown there. I think it's best to have everything available and let people choose as they will.

No they can’t fight that. And not only on military installations but worldwide on every single broadcast. I bet that would pinch Murdoch & Co more than a fine would.
